For You & Your Family
Contested Probate & Inheritance Disputes
Disagreements after a death are often deeply personal. We provide a calm starting point for discussing concerns about a Will, an estate or an inheritance.
Sensitive Support When An Estate Is Disputed
An inheritance dispute can involve family relationships as well as financial concerns. We listen carefully to what has happened and why you are worried. The initial discussion focuses on the issue, the people involved and the stage the estate has reached, so the work needed can be considered in context.
How We Can Help
- Concerns about the validity of a Will
- Disagreements involving executors or estate administration
- Enquiries about provision from an estate
- Disputes involving trusts or beneficiaries
- Negotiation and attempts to resolve inheritance disagreements
Your First Conversation
Tell us your relationship to the person who has died, whether there is a Will and what has caused concern. Mention whether a grant has been issued, any distribution has taken place or a date has been raised by another adviser.
We will listen to what you need, identify the relevant service and explain the proposed next step. Before any work is agreed, the scope, likely costs and information needed should be clear.
Questions You May Have
Can I enquire if I am an executor?
Yes. Explain your role and the issue you are facing, so the appropriate service can be identified.
Do I need a copy of the Will first?
You can make an initial enquiry before you have every document. Explain what information you currently have.
Is this the same as ordinary probate work?
No. A dispute needs a different discussion from routine estate administration. If there is no disagreement, start with our Probate & Estate Administration service.
